It started with a dream. One morning Valentina woke up and couldn't shake the message from the night before: "If you follow me, you will get it." In the dream, a strange, slightly grotesque figure — not the devil, she's always careful to clarify, just something unfamiliar — was sitting inside the garage of her family home. When it noticed her, it told her plainly: this cluttered, disused place needed to become something else. A magical, artistic space.
Shaken a little by the encounter but carrying a strangely positive feeling about it, Valentina decided not to waste any time. Within a single day, she cleared the garage out completely — everything went, including a pair of her mother's boots that had been stored there, which, as it turned out later, was not a welcome surprise for her mom. Whatever she found inside, she gave away to passersby rather than throwing it out. Giving things away has always made her happy — it's simply who she is.
With the space empty, she brought in a professional to build the studio properly. What had been a forgotten garage became, in a short time, something closer to a temple — and soon, the total focus of her life.
A Life Built Around One Thing
Valentina has never been drawn to the ordinary version of a fun life — shops, clubs, the things most people spend their free time on have always bored her. Once the studio existed, she withdrew from most of that world to compose, unwilling to spend time on anything that didn't serve what she considers her mission in life.
Art is her life — and her death, as Valentina puts it.
Days and nights blurred together in that space. She would lose track of whether it was morning or night, forget to eat, and simply keep working. Years passed this way, largely spent inside a converted garage that had become her entire creative world.
Why So Much of It Stays Unreleased
Most of what came out of those years has never been published. Valentina draws a firm line between what she does and the music industry's idea of commerce: to her, singing and composing are not a business — they're a way of living connected to something no transaction can offer.
"Music isn't something you can define. It's precisely what escapes definition, because of how immense it is. You feel it in your heart, but it connects to something far beyond ourselves."
